A simple, monotracial, stably projectionless C*-algebra

چکیده
We construct a simple, nuclear, stably projectionless C∗-algebra W which has trivial Ktheory and a unique tracial state, and we investigate the extent to which W might fit into the hierarchy of strongly self-absorbing C∗-algebras as an analogue of the Cuntz algebra O2. In this context, we show that every nondegenerate endomorphism of W is approximately inner and we construct a tracepreserving embedding of W into the central sequences algebra M(W )∞ ∩W ′. We conjecture that W⊗W ∼= W and we note some implications of this, for example that W would be absorbed tensorially by a certain class of nuclear, stably projectionless C∗-algebras. Finally, we explain why W may play some role in the classification of such algebras.

Regularity for Stably Projectionless, Simple C∗-algebras
This paper explores the following regularity properties and their relationships for simple, not-necessarily-unital C∗algebras: (i) Jiang-Su stability, (ii) unperforation in the Cuntz semigroup, and (iii) slow dimension growth (applying only in the case that the C∗-algebra is approximately subhomogeneous). An example is given of a simple, separable, nuclear, stably projectionless C∗-algebra whos...
متن کاملA Stably Finite Analogue of the Cuntz Algebra O 2
The Elliott Programme seeks classification of simple, separable, nuclear C∗-algebras via a functor based on K-theory. There are a handful of C∗-algebras, including the Cuntz algebras O2 and O∞, that play particularly important roles in the programme. It is principally in this context that the Jiang-Su algebra Z is regarded as an analogue of O∞, and this thesis proposes an analogue of O2 in a si...
متن کاملLocalizing the Elliott Conjecture at Strongly Self-absorbing C * -algebras – with an Appendix by Huaxin Lin –
We formally introduce the concept of localizing the Elliott conjecture at a given strongly self-absorbing C∗-algebra D; we also explain how the known classification theorems for nuclear C∗-algebras fit into this concept. As a new result in this direction, we employ recent results of Lin to show that (under a mild K-theoretic condition) the class of separable, unital, simple C∗-algebras with loc...

متن کاملNuclear Dimension, Z-stability, and Algebraic Simplicity for Stably Projectionless C∗-algebras
The main result here is that a separable C∗-algebra is Z-stable (where Z denotes the Jiang-Su algebra) if (i) it has finite nuclear dimension or (ii) it is approximately subhomogeneous with slow dimension growth. This generalizes the main results of [27, 36] to the nonunital setting. Algebraic simplicity is established as a fruitful weakening of being simple and unital, and the proof of the mai...
